Eléonore Joulin feels like a show

WDW63 Rotterdam, September 2009
Curated by Bernhard Garnicnig

In its entirety „This is the image of a show and nothing more.“ These pictures represent what Eléonore Joulin set up in the exhibition space to construct the image of a show. Only the formal arrangement of familiar and non-specific objects within the space make these images feel like pictures of an exhibition, not only of a space. „I put the objects in the space to be photographed“. Arranged in basic geometrical shapes of lines and planes they inherit meaning by setting any present subject into the center of attention. „While arranging these elements in space, I feel like Klaus Kinski in Werner Herzogs Aguirre, a desperate king overlooking his little kingdom while he is surrounded by monkeys.“
